One of the challenges drawing a comic set in WWII-era Finland are the background characters. Making them unique, but not too unique so they won't take the spotlight from the more important side characters is something to balance with. (Snippet from the upcoming chapter 22)

In "Lotta Svärd: Women of War" the appearances of the Soviet prisoners seen from chapter 17 forward are based on these photogenic gentlemen, who were also Soviet POW's during Winter War.
