I've been realizing that a lot of what I thought was my personality was not only ADHD, but all the precautions I took to hide it. I even do most of it without realizing! Masking ADHD is extremely exhausting and muddying my sense of self.

Most people are still surprised when I say I have ADHD. It's not that I hide it on purpose - a lot of it is ingrained into me in order to avoid ridicule and trouble. Here are more ways I (consciously or not) hide my ADHD!

I wish more people knew how affected our emotions and emotional responses are by ADHD. Everyone will experience their ADHD differently, so feel free to cross out what applies to you!

I could never figure out why I'm so lazy - but always so exhausted. I always try to make things right, just to get them wrong all over again. This is one of the things that really make me question myself.

ADHD behavior can be full of contradictions. I often see people give reasons as to why someone else can't have it and almost every time that reason either doesn't contradict ADHD, or can be even more of a sign for it.

ADHD makes it really hard for me to form an identity. Things I thought I love are hard for me to start, and I keep doing things I wish I wouldn't.
