i did this for a friend just as a little explanation but decided i'd post it here too . I promise the real scar reference sheet is still coming HEHE . i just did this to show what injuries i pulled from when i drew this post bt joseph .

one joseph fandom thing that annoys me a lot is the idea that he can't cook . I know it just comes from the 'joseph is stupid' belief, but we literally see him cook in canon. And it's over a fire. and it's Really good. (despite being baby food.)
(Additionally, i personally enjoy how joseph putting himself in danger for shizuka, mirrors his introduction, with smokey. Sticking his neck out for someone he doesn't know.) I'd say it's always been Joseph's character, to do this kind of thing, and end up adopting shizuka . 7/12
After the achtung baby arc, Koichi says that shizuka only trusts Joseph, and panics when he's not around. So we can say that he's uniquely warm and comforting to her, and is able to keep her calm. His emotional awareness of how she's doing likely helped with this. 8/12

something i really love about 4seph's outfit is, even though only present in the manga at the end, araki draws joseph's hat more similar to the aviator hats he very often puts young joseph in (regardless of art style) to me, it says that joseph is forever a pilot boy at heart.
