Remember, these psychiatric appointments will be expensive. But for a lifetime diagnosis, it's worth it. It was for me at least. It took several sessions to get a proper diagnosis. During the sessions, the psychiatrist asked a LOT of questions. (5/14)
He also asked for blood test and drug test results. Had to get those from another clinic. (6/14)
Actually, one of those friends suspected I had autism, something I hadn't considered at the time. They sent me an 'Aspie-Quiz' and suggested sending the results to the psychiatrist too. (10/14)
The psychiatrist asked if I could at least try and get one of my parents to fill out the questionnaire, so he could get a more accurate analysis. So I found a way to get them to fill it in without knowing I'm seeing a psychiatrist. (12/14)
And that's how I got my diagnosis. Even just having a name to my experience is a huge relief. It definitely makes it easier to know what's up before trying to understand it. To anyone looking to get one, I wish you the best of luck getting your diagnosis!! (14/14)
