`Applause' The concept for `Applause' always reminded me of Bowie's "Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)" so I didn't want to change Gaga's harlequin look because to me it's already a piece of art.
`Venus' A nod to Sandro Botticelli's The Birth of Venus mixed with Gaga's Venus from the single cover art shot by Steven Klein, while still keeping her golden wavy hair (wanted to be specific since Gaga had so many Venus styles in the era).
