#webcomicchat A style that matches perfectly the humor of the story, for instance, really makes or break a story. A lot of people feel all shoujo manga kinda looks the same (it doesn't) but certain codes and aesthetics associated to shoujo really fits with the heavy melodrama.
#webcomicchat that being said, some people really do have a "unique" style, often something new that influences a genre or even starts a genre... but if you look closely, the new style was polished to fit a specific storytelling style. It's always linked.
