(2/17) One of my favourite things about these comprehensive Junji Ito anthology collections is being able to see the variety of styles Junji Ito has used in his comics over the years.

(4/17) This is used to great effect as a high-contrast jump scare in some stories, used in a reveal panel to emphasize the strange features of a face-stealing creature. It's the only panel on the page with a shadowy background, using the white of the face to draw the eye in.

(5/17) Some stories really show off the grotesque body horror that Ito would become known for in stories like "The Enigma of Amigara Fault", or "Uzumaki". This story, wherein the dream self of a protagonist turns him inside out as it tries to crawl into our world, was delightful.

(6/17) I love the way the speech bubbles are used in this story, and specifically this page. The mystery is heightened by obscuring the features of the antagonist in this recalled memory.

(8/17) "Long Hair In The Attic", has been one of my favourite Junji Ito short stories for the longest time. It was the first story of his I ever read, way back when I first discovered him in high school.
