4-5 years ago, it was like pulling teeth to get me to draw from life. I was like "I know what ppl look like, I know how the body works" & yet I was drawing such boring and stagnant pieces. My lines weren't confident & I feared imperfection. My sketchbook makes me so happy now.
I can fully admit I did not like drawing for half my 20s, which is insane because that's the time my career took off, but I just did not like it. Now I look forward to making marks, not completely nailing a figure, seeing if I can capture a person who came and went.
Marveling at how beautiful Nagabe draws his characters, especially the reptiles. Just look how pretty this character is! Ahhh~

Today is my momma's birthday so to celebrate I made a comic about a recent moment where she spent the night at my place and my thoughts on the passing of time, her as a person and wanting to hold her close. Hope she continues to "sleep like a babydoll." 1/4
