In the Wukong's Mom AU, Macaque actually lives and his punishment is to live out his life repaying the trauma to the Huaguo troop by being a 'guard dog' till Wukong returns (and then several centuries after that out of spite). He has a roller coaster of a time.

The Fake Marriage AU is rough because these two are keen to make Heaven uncomfortable with romance...whilst they are ALSO uncomfortable with romance. However it takes one or two shows of trust to reassess the boundaries of their comfort.

Even when helping, the relatively freshly released Great Sage can't help but be the tiniest bit snippy about small things whilst also insulting the Heavens.
