I've dabbled in Touhou shipping drama multiple times in the past, but I think I've come to understand why some people just want to believe in the "Gensokyo is Gay" stuff and why some others just aren't fans of 2hu shipping in general.
Some people just want a safe space and they sometimes use fictional universes for that. Given how oppressed LGBTQ+ people still are today, I can completely understand why they want that safe space here.
