Taking Cynthia Sheppard's narrative illustration class, these are my wk3 and wk4 thumbnails, gonna go with dracoola. The assignment is to take a popular story and illustrative it with a strong focus on narrative/emotion.
Sketch of the warrior sidekicks from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything! I tend to get given a lot of dogs and wolves to do, it's always fun. Recently I ask for characters too, to practice! Kate Irwin is an awesome AD who always gives great assignments
Lich iterations! Final was settled on pretty quick. She's a half-elf, so I wanted to make her skull just sliiightly non-human. I liked the pink bones a lot. AD: Kate Irwin
If you want something fun to do, dig through some really old DnD monsters! Trying to redesign some of the sillier ones into nightmare fuel (not that the OG Thought Eater needs help) is an interesting exercise in bringing an old design into a modern one for current audiences. #dnd
Now my brain is back down on earth, enormous love and vibes to @extra_vertebrae who drew my lil Tarnished Malgrim with Radahn and LEONARD!! She's a phenomenal creature artist with some of the best linework anatomy in the creature crew.
This was a fairly straight forward card, the mood was "I might help you, or eat you"
QRT your Sketch vs Final
Just a few years back I was gonna be a tattoo artist instead! These days I doodle things to hand to actual tattoo artists so they can redraw them better and accurately in proper oldschool style. Some Tyr/Cleric inspired stuff for a friend. My Saltmarsh ink is booked!
