it's been a while since I've really just let myself have fun with a drawing, so here's a quick peak at what I'm working on right now...!

been thinking about this panel from our dreams at dusk / shimanami tasogare where a character's exit is shown through the ice in a glass sitting on the table to convey the feeling of sensing that someone is putting up a barrier and locking you out

shounen note is a series by the creator of shimanami tasogare about a boy soprano, and I will NEVER be able to praise its visual language enough. feelings of facing inevitable change, of isolation and connection, even coming home to arguing parents - it's all right there on paper

a recurring motif between these two characters always stands out to me in particular, where the moon is used to emphasize distance. the way it eventually culminates in a scene where the fog lifts and you open to this nearly blank double page spread just knocks me out

it's such a beautiful, kind-hearted series. I just love it. it isn't currently available in english, but you can request its localization through seven seas' regularly offered survey if you'd like to give it a chance at reaching north america: https://t.co/jeLVJ9Q24M

Since the book is being released tomorrow, I wanted to share the original comic that The Sprite and the Gardener is loosely based on. I drew this back in 2017 as a one-off idea, and I really had no idea it was going to lead to anything!

good news everyone - I found the best manga panel. rest assured it simply does not get better than this

I made a set of bunny-themed coloring pages! (link below)

even if I didn't get to make a print for mother 3, I'm glad I was able to draw something for each game during the 30th anniversary of the series this year!

here are four of the things I had the most fun drawing in 2018! hoping I get to have even more fun in 2019!!

a little late but I'm here!! #artvsartist
