Elsa Beskow (1874-1953) Swedish author and illustrator of children's books. Among her better known books are Tale of the Little Little Old Woman and Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender.

Hideko Mizuno (born in 1939) One of the first successful female Japanese shōjo manga artists.[1] She was an assistant of Osamu Tezuka staying in Tokiwa-sō. She made her professional debut in 1955 with Akakke Kōma Pony, a Western story with a tomboy heroine.

Agnes Miller Parker (1895–1980) Engraver, illustrator and painter in oil and tempera.

Rose O'Neill (1874-1944) American cartoonist, illustrator, artist, and writer. She rose to fame for her creation of the popular comic strip characters, Kewpies, in 1909, and was also the first published female cartoonist in the United States.

Chihiro Iwasaki (1918-1974) Japanese artist and illustrator best known for her water-colored illustrations of flowers and children, the theme of which was "peace and happiness for children".
