Rose O'Neill (1874-1944) American cartoonist, illustrator, artist, and writer. She rose to fame for her creation of the popular comic strip characters, Kewpies, in 1909, and was also the first published female cartoonist in the United States.
Chihiro Iwasaki (1918-1974) Japanese artist and illustrator best known for her water-colored illustrations of flowers and children, the theme of which was "peace and happiness for children".
Pauline Baynes (1922-2008) English illustrator, author, and commercial artist. She contributed drawings and paintings to more than 200 books. She was the first illustrator of some of J. R. R. Tolkien's minor works and of C. S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia.
