2022 was a pretty good year for me and art! I polished up a bit and learned a lot more. I have lots of art plans & hopes for 2023, but mostly I'm grateful to the people who helped me grow, and I look forward to further growth in the new year! 🥳

But then I felt like I was digging too deep into that - not only was it starting to detract from my art, but it was taking up a lot of time, which is an issue when you're making comics. Line weight should emphasise certain aspects but I was overdoing it and just muddying things.

But if I'm working on something more detailed, then I will build up line weights. Here's an example using our favourite guinea pig. For a sketch or a comic with lots of panels I might leave it at the left; for a print or zine work I'll build up line weights for visual clarity.
