Love em or hate em, the Court of Owls really is sort of a perfect concept, condensing several "secret history of Gotham" stories (Destroyer, Black Glove, etc) into a tidy package with tons of curb appeal. Probably the smartest addition to the Bat brand since the new Red Hood.
OH yeah, we're all about the video phone here. Classic, expository, visually zesty. Somewhere along the line all superhero-type characters started defaulting to these ubiquitous invisible hands-free comm links -- embrace tradition, AKA little faces in your desks and wristwatches
Similar to last Sunday's strip, today's FLASH GORDON features a reimagining of Prince Barin's first appearance, originally drawn by the god Alex Raymond in 1934. I included the Robin Hood elements that eventually became Barin's signature look - but I kept his pythons out 💪
