I thought the ending was visually fun, especially ending on a white spread, but I didn't like that the book potentially killed these guys. In the other books if people die it's morally dubious / an overreaction, but this seemed too dark or something. THE END
this was a really fun one - thanks to Jake for having me on to talk about Remy Charlip & this Edward Gorey cover I ripped off for the new book https://t.co/J4OPdZnbNw
moving some books & found "A Moon Or A Button" by Ruth Krauss & Remy Charlip (it's little so it gets lost sometimes)
"This Is Not My Hat" is about a fish who steals a hat from a very big fish and spends the book telling us that it was an ok thing to do & that he's going to be fine but it isn't & then he isn't fine. It is told completely in monologue.
Happy publication day to Pax Journey Home by @sarapennypacker ! It was a real pleasure illustrating it.
drew some skull stuff last year & just made a folder for them.
it's so crazy that Lotte Reiniger made a feature-length film that looked like this 10 years before Disney made anything that long

that ghost table drawing led to this little story, again pretty old now, but it's actually an idea I had in third grade. I've been trying to expand it into a book but it's tough to expand without ruining it - it makes me kind of emotional just the way it is.
"Ghost Goes In The Door" (an oldie now but still a goodie imo)
got reminded of this old one just now - I think most of my affection for it still comes from the pun on "legend". Happy almost Halloween you guys.
