Going through some more old sketchbooks. 2002-2005, 9th-12th grades. Seems like a period of artistic growth as I was actively trying to remove any trace of anime influence in my art style. Was very into H. R. Giger and The Matrix.

Some early attempts at using reference for likenesses and anatomy practice. Looks like 2004 was when I adopted my current art signature.

Nagri Lorfist was the protagonist of a fantasy epic I started in 7th grade. As I got older and my interests changed, the story became a strange blend of influences: DBZ, LotR, samurai, western, cyberpunk & the Dark Tower. By 2005 his name had changed to Nil Laredo.

A few more character sketches that were related to the "Lorfist/Laredo Saga" or a similar genre mashup story featuring a female android named Shard. Expect to see a ton more drawings from this universe as I dig through more old art.

This Toppi page is incredible.

What do I need to do to get hired to draw TMNT or Godzilla for @IDWPublishing ?

Trap Jaw art card. Fun character I've never drawn before. Can I tell you a secret? I've never watched an episode of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

Master Peace & Hoj Poj line art. See below for the tattoo version. I'm sure some of you are disappointed this isn't a little more 🌶 🌶 🌶 but I decided to keep it soft R for this first piece.

How did people draw things like this before the internet? Did every illustrator have a room full of prop weapons?

@GailSimone I get why Cho's juvenile sense of humor turns people off, but he is an incredibly skilled artist and can do so much more than the T&A he is known for.

Almost done with my reread of the Archie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics. I probably had about 1/4 of the entire series collected as a kid and they made a big impact. Every once in a while, especially later in the run, you'd get some surprisingly not for kids moments.

I'm curious to see how this ends up turning out. I'm thinking I better jump into inks instead of fussing over the pencils.
