I have only good things to say about the new English edition of Hayao Miyazaki's manga Shuna's Journey. Bigger size, hardcover format, & in English for the 1st time ever. Highly recommended. See more in my review - https://t.co/SktxAM6SqH

Miyazaki-san used many of the ideas and visuals from Shuna later on when he made Princess Mononoke. These few panels are almost a 1:1 match with the night scene where Ashitaka & Jigo share a meal and Jigo tells him about the Great Forest Spirit -

On a related note, I'll never get over just how good his concept art pieces for the 2005 Japanese film SHINOBI are; just imagine if he had a pass at the character designs for a live-action SEKIRO film ( yeah, just daydreaming here... ) - https://t.co/THm9cs5aEK

Revel in animation director Masaaki Yuasa's whimsical & colorful production drawings & manga artist Taiyo Matsumoto's character designs in the Birth Of Inu-Oh visual guide. See more in my review 劇場アニメーション「犬王」誕生の巻 - https://t.co/jUCv8ToRNo

Just got my copy of Japanese illustrator Acky Bright's art book B/W, with lots of cool drawings ! My review in the coming week/s アッキーブライト ビーダブリュー - https://t.co/lCiCWOoXUV @aki001208

Let there be no doubt in the power of animation to inspire & motivate artistic creation, seeing all the amazing #KPOPDEMONHUNTERS fanart filling up my timeline. It's like a veritable creative Honmoon all unto itself. Here's just a few that I came across 😍- @UNLAP1N @hyeon_0613

The beautiful color keys painted by the visdev artists greatly informs the work that we do in #vfx lighting/comp in a process called Key-lighting. If you enjoyed #KPOPDEMONHUNTERS and would like to learn a little more about the animation creative process, read on ! A short 🧵-

Seeing Ghost In The Shell creator Shirow Masamune's original manga drawings at his exhibition in Tokyo was an amazing experience. Insanely detailed and the screentone work is just spectacular. See more in my post about the exhibition ( link in comments below 👇)

Interesting. This illustration by the great Tatsuyuki Tanaka is a great primer as well ( a style pioneered by AKIRA creator Katsuhiro Otomo ) - From his book 'Ani Man LLust'; review link in comments below 👇

Denno Coil director Mitsuo Iso's (#磯光雄) latest art book is a treasure trove of his concept art drawings for animated films like Ghost In The Shell, MS Gundam, Roujin Z, Steamboy, Magnetic Rose & more. 400 pages; highly recommended - https://t.co/EDV5W53Gmu

Otomo's insanely strong cinematic vision is manifestly clear when you look at how tight his storyboard drawings compare to the finished shots in the film. The storyboard books are a veritable treasure trove on how he composed his shots - https://t.co/5gApwv3uW6

Astonishing drawings from Iain McCaig's 'Once Upon a Time in the Sketchbook' ( 2024 ). Hardcover, 160 pages. Explore more in my review; link in comments section below 👇

Beautiful 2 vol manga set of Yamada Akihiro's 'Record Of Lodoss War – The Lady Of Pharis', released in 2015. Real pity it is out of print. See more in my review; link in comments section below 👇

One of the most unintentionally funny Amazon reviews I've ever read was one left for the Ghost In The Shell genga/layout book (2014), where the reviewer commented that it was a "half-a**ed coloring book, most of the drawings are incomplete" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 - https://t.co/4rXLLv7bUm

Heads up - a 650 pages whopper of an art book will be released on Dec 2nd collecting layouts+genga from Katsuhiro Otomo's AKIRA, as part of Complete Works. This new book will be like a jumbo edition of the Akira Animation Archives (2002 - image below) - https://t.co/qqLsxpNF0n

Please excuse me while I pick up my jaw from the ground...the insanely detailed drawings from Otomo's Steamboy Storyboard book ( Vol 1 ). Currently writing the review, here are some sneaks; purchase link in comments below 👇

One of the many reasons why Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira manga is so visually impactful is because of the cinematic framing & composition. Otomo is as much a film director/cinematographer as he is a manga artist - https://t.co/tIhqt3L6gY
