The sketches for "The Fountains of Ferrom" and "Steward of the Depths" - sometimes the sketch gives me more satisfaction than the finished piece.

Old masters used the camera obscura to accurately translate 3d scenes onto a 2 dimensional surface. It's said Jan Van Eyck used one for "The Arnolfini Wedding". Don't let others shame you for your artistic process. Using the tools available to you isn't lazy, it's smart.

There is something so delicious about how David Roberts rendered architecture. It's... soft somehow? It gives it life and character and an inviting quality.
