The emblem IS still used, however. It's used specifically when you fight them after they'd turned Maverick and are following under Sigma. An intentional detail of this is how the emblem is not present on Vile when you're playing as him, but is present during his boss fights.

This would be consistent with how the emblem was used in Maverick Hunter X, with characters previously baring the emblem having specific tweaks to show the emblem not present on them during their time as Maverick Hunters.

With how it was used in X1-X2, it was shown to be used on those that were choosing to follow under Sigma's commands, being present at least somewhere on their bodies. Whether it had been present before or after his rebellion was sort of left without an answer though.

While researching reference material for Sigma, I noticed how he had the Maverick symbol on his chest in X Dive. I thought it was a change they made just for that game specifically and he never had it there, but I looked into it and saw that he actually always had it there. (1/3)
