After reading #OnePiece1082, I once again want to appreciate that Oda not only designs goofy and/or weird characters, but also gives them backgrounds or moments to shine that can compare or even top to those of the main cast.1

Unnamed mythological project: Creating a bunch of independant yet connected explanations for the things that exist in the world, like greek and norse mythologies do. My favorite one is clearly the one that's got a hand instead of a head. 4

Grimboxes: Another concept involves a very chill approach to angels and devils. It includes an angel that gets (accidentally) adopted into a family of 30+ biological devil sisters and a Heaven/Hell customs bureau. Actually a very old concept (third picture is from last year) 3

The story would have more stuff like this. Funny slapstick overall, with horror and dread sprinkled across the board. I even thought that it'd be a fun challenge if I experimented with the idea of having half of the cast die, and how that'd affect those that are still alive. 3

I don't have a lot that I'm comfortable sharing, but I do try to come up with horror monsters here and there. Grotesque, bloody, hideous, worthy of urban legends. It's oddly satisfying at times. 1

The villains were where it was at: I challenged myself to design "dumb villains from the Golden Age", and actual characters that took their powers and became a threat. Thus, some like Jacuzzi Yakuza would sound dumb, yet designed to be an actual threat. 4

At some points though, I got so fixated into results yet again, and wanting to further push what we could do with Townseek, that this side-hobby ended up taking actual working hours, on top of my other responsibilities. It was always fun, but I only have so much energy. 2
