The big bad of this story was Mammoth Mogul. His plot? Mind controlling Sonic's pals, forcing Sonic and them into Mogul's NEW Fearsome Foursome.

My favorite of the bizarre Sonic origin stories has to be the Troll Associates chapter books: Sonic and Robotnik were orphans raised by Uncle Chuck. After his robot-building endangers Chuck, Robotnik disappears for a decade and returns as a world conqueror!
@Acelister It was! Though it was a dream sequence in that issue. Not sure which came first, to be honest.
