    Time. Readers are looking at colors, line, background, text, characters-- everything all at once! Gotta work smart when deciding where your efforts go, not just so that you can hit a deadline but so your page ends up beautiful. Knowing when to turn off details is half the work.

    Research. Every story has its design problems to solve. I needed to create a uniform that felt authentic to the setting, felt gender-neutral, worked for many bodytypes and was honestly and most importantly: cool as hell. The design I went with had to function for 300 pages!

A lot of the time, art teachers try to get us to draw larger, because it helps when studying anatomy and drawing the whole figure.
