Peanuts gets clumped together with Calvin and Hobbes pretty often but I don't think they're too similar. Calvin always TRIED to be introspective. I genuinely don't feel Peanuts is trying to be. It just is. I love Calvin but I feel Peanuts is way more effective in that way.
So yeah at a young age this was main source of media consumption. Getting Peanuts comics or reading the reprints in the newspaper was my favorite thing. And this one of the first times something like this felt uniquely to me.
Yeah I liked Spongebob and Mario but every kid liked those. Liking Peanuts felt like something I could passionately talk about and educate people on. This might sound kinda egotistical, but that was really special to me. I was known as the Snoopy kid in elementary school.
And this sparked my interest in drawing comic strips at that age. Cartoons and video games were not something I could tangibly make. But comic strips were. And instead of being like slapstick funny, I always favored wit. Sadly these are probably buried in my moms basement.
And ever since then I've been passionately into art and cartoons of any kind. (which im sure is evident.) I wanted to create stories that could reach people like Peanuts reached me. Cozy and funny. Something people maybe could use to calm them down too.

my friends and i were making Peanuts Minus Everyone But Charlie Brown and it just kinda ended up being really sad and introspective.
I finally finished Stop Hibari-Kun It's ending is super abrupt and borderline unfinished, but its a super cute and charming manga. Way ahead of its time. Hibari is peak character design. She is the cutest little shit alive.
Man. I know this is a tired comparison, but like Bones really doesnt capture what I love about Horikoshi's art. He isnt afraid to go visceral, but the anime is.
Never forget when the idw comics created the most powerful moment in any piece of sonic media in a single page.
It's gonna sound cliché, but I really wish I could tell him how much of an impact he had on me. Everything about his writing and drawings shaped me into who I am today. Peanuts is a huge part of my life. And will always be. #Peanuts70
And I cannot tell you how important this was at a young age. There is a ton of kids media that teaches you how to be happy. But what about kids media about how to be depressed? It's not like you'll be able to help it, so Peanuts has a beautiful way of making you feel less alone.
