shounen note is a series by the creator of shimanami tasogare about a boy soprano, and I will NEVER be able to praise its visual language enough. feelings of facing inevitable change, of isolation and connection, even coming home to arguing parents - it's all right there on paper 4

a recurring motif between these two characters always stands out to me in particular, where the moon is used to emphasize distance. the way it eventually culminates in a scene where the fog lifts and you open to this nearly blank double page spread just knocks me out 3
