Before Bluto, Popeye's main rival for Olive's affections was her first boyfriend, Ham Gravy. At one time one of the main characters of E. C. Segar's THIMBLE THEATRE, Ham would completely disappear soon after Popeye became the comic's star character in the early 1930s.
