i don't know if it beats the fact that the anime generated interest for the english version of the manga *in japan* though, which i guess makes sense, and which also reminds me of one of my favorite, very good and very goofy illustration of ash and eiji "exchanging culture"
we should totally bring retro curls and puffy waves back! i just think they're neat!
with that being said, while i generally think the anime is a very good adaptation, i feel like this scene was lacking some needed intensity that was clearly there in the manga panel. even without the notable difference in the embrace, the execution needed more... spark
