For #Feboardary I'm going through my boarding process in detail - and it usually starts with thumbs that look like this! I keep them super-tiny and super illegible so I never get "married" to any one shot composition. My first ideas aren't always best, so I do a lot of alts!

Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart was nominated for another Annie Award! This time, it's directing for our unbeatable director @mikejmoloney, and it was a LOT of direction to make all of the gags myself and @Angelo_Hat put in really come together! One of my fave episodes to write!

The blue notes on my thumbs help me to figure out which shot setups I'll be able to re-use. When yr boarding on a tight deadline like in TV, re-using shots is lifesaving both for you and the BG folks later. Here's 3 shots I was able to re-purpose with different FG/BG elements.

The note "S/A" stands for "Same As," which means it's the same as the previous panel or shot. When it's written on characters or BGs, it's a nice shorthand to let people know the characters aren't moving from panel to panel without having to copy/paste or re-draw them.
