Iida is an interesting choice to be the one to reach Deku. Their past storylines have revolved around them trying to get the other to rely on those around them, so it makes sense as a continuation of that theme for this arc.
It's also an interesting parallel of Bakugou and Deku both sending someone else they think can reach the other better instead of themselves. Deku with Kirishima at Kamino the first time and Bakugo with Iida now.
