at least in the beginning, the world doesn't have to be explained bc we're like "oh duh, fantasy world! makes sense!" but then it does get explained and explored in depth and you question why you didn't wonder about it in the first place, just like the characters in the story.

tbh my favorite part of dungeon meshi is that this panel, izutsumi is clearly referencing this crying cat meme, which came from a picture of my cat inkky. :) inkky passed away in 2020 but tbh i feel a special attachment to izutsumi because of this one panel, like...thats my girl

i love when kui draws laios completely neutral and he has this air of quiet misery and apathy to him. i haven't noticed that in the anime yet. he exudes this aura of boredom and resentment sometimes, the way she draws him.
