As for the aesthetic of the finished artwork, I was thinking something along the more delicate lines of the 'Romantics' of the comic world. ie; Barry Windsor-Smith, Michael Kaluta, Jeff Jones, Bernie Wrightson, P. Craig Russell... Maybe not as hatch-heavy, but you get the idea.

Very rough preliminary designs of Simon for my Castlevania redesign. I want his look and demeanor to be a cross between a nobleman and a vagabond. The original Simon is a wee bit too Schwarzenegger-- gonna make him a bit leaner, but still remain 'heroic' enough. Suggestions?

Chipping away at a comic for a client and I gotta say I'm proud of my line-economy on this dude's face.

I like the idea that those mandibles aren't really 'teeth', but rather like crab-arms that can grab ahold of food. It'd also absorb/slowly digest/dissolve prey into its 'nucleus' while holding onto it.
