Yesterday I mentioned the Brigitte Bardot song, "La Madrague". The melancholic tune was inspired by her house in St. Tropez, an old fisherman's shack with a boathouse, which she bought in 1959. This week I'll feature photos of it, like these, taken by Georges Dudognon in 1965. 4

Bluto (Brutus), according to E.C. Segar's assistant Bud Sagendorf, was inspired by British actor Eric Campbell (1890-1917), who played the recurring "big brute" character in many Chaplin shorts. Another influence is said to be Tyrone Power's Red Flack, from THE BIG TRAIL (1930). 3
