with that being said, while i generally think the anime is a very good adaptation, i feel like this scene was lacking some needed intensity that was clearly there in the manga panel. even without the notable difference in the embrace, the execution needed more... spark 2

i don't know if it beats the fact that the anime generated interest for the english version of the manga *in japan* though, which i guess makes sense, and which also reminds me of one of my favorite, very good and very goofy illustration of ash and eiji "exchanging culture" 2
